Rest in Peace Daddy...

It has been a long month... My dad, Thomas Hailey lost his battle to cancer on March 28th at 9:45am. He was able to stay in his home, with family, hospice and hired nurses to care for him. My brother and I were able to be with him when he left, and I am so thankful that God gave us this opportunity to be with him. I am comforted by knowing he didn't suffer, and went peacefully.

Here is my Dad's obituary..

Thomas E. Hailey, 64 of Mayville, lost his courageous battle to cancer on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at his home in Mayville.

A funeral service for Thomas will take place on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013 at 4 p.m. at Christian Life Fellowship with the Rev. David Koch officiating. A visitation will take place on Tuesday at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service at 4 p.m.

1/2 day of School=Craft Time!

So, today was a half day at school... So my house was filled today! On every half day of school we make some sort of craft for the upcoming holiday or season... Today was Easter! The kids had a pretty good time, and even with a migraine I was able to pull off craft time with 3 little boys!

Here is a look at what we did:

We had a little down time to just "color" Here is my sweet boy, Cameron!

Here are the bunnies I did to show the boys!

Here are the bunnies the boys did, in order: Kaden, Owen and then Cameron.. he wanted really Big ears!

Here is a look at the ducks we did!

All proudly displayed on the door or should I say "make shift bulletin board!"

Kaden got his homework done, while I was baking cookies... go figure!

Finished product: Toffee Chip Cookies, not too bad!

Overall we had a pretty productive day! Stay tuned tomorrow... we are baking again, this time Sugar Cookie Butterflies! Nothing beats a snowstorm like a warm kitchen, and flour on your apron!

Take Care,
Tiffany

Best Sugar Cookie Ever!

So, we made the Best cookies today! Finally after many years of searching and baking, I found the best rolled out sugar cookie! Below is the recipe!

Sugar Cookie:

Ingredients:
1 1/2 Cups of Butter (soft)
3 Cups of White Sugar
4 Eggs
2 Teaspoon Vanilla
5 Cups All Purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons Baking Powder
1 Teaspoon Salt

Directions:
1. In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt (with a spoon) Cover and chill overnight!

2. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Roll out dough on a floured surface. Cut into shapes. Place on cookie sheets. I sprayed mine with Pam first.

3. Bake for 6-8 minutes, Cool Completely! I baked mine for 7, and they were perfect!

Icing:

Ingredients:
1 Cup Powdered Sugar
2 Teaspoons Milk
2 Teaspoons Light Corn Syrup
1/4 Teaspoon Almond Extract
Food Coloring (optional)

Directions:
1. In a small bowl stir together powered sugar and milk, until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup.

2. Divide into separate bowls if more than one color. You can either dip, paint or frost cookies!

*I needed 4 batches of frosting for about 50 cookies!

Here are a few photos of today!

Enjoy! The Cookies are Great!

Projects!

So today was a day of projects!

With the kids not being in school today, and the bitter cold we landed our butts at the table and made some cute Valentine's Day projects!

The kids had fun, and to be honest so did I! We all played with glue, colored with markers, cut out hearts and ate popcorn!

Here are the projects we did today!

Update!

Wow.. how time flies. The holidays were busy as always, and then we took a quick family vacation to the Dells. Nate has been doing a lot of traveling for work lately, so we try to spend as much time as possible "making memories" for our kids! Currently he is in Canada, with about -30 degrees...

Here are a few photos from the holidays!
